Lovers Dream: Abdollah-Ribaya Nuptial

I used to work as reporter when I was sent to represent Manila Bulletin for an International Journalism Fellowship to Malaysian Press Institute in Kuala Lumpur where Salman was working in 2010. Since hotel food were expensive, he would take me out have a nice dinner in places with good Malaysian food all over KL every night. That was how we fell in love with each other.

When the time has I arrived for me to go back to Manila, Salman and I found ourselves in a dilemma between cutting the “fling” off or just have a long distance relationship (LDR). On the night of my departure, we mutually agreed to ignore the distance and just make the relationship work.

The next four years involved more than a dozen round trips to Kuala Lumpur and Manila. The difference in our religions brought up problems and the language barrier also made LDR much tougher. But Salman and I are lucky to share a love that has the ability to nurture our similarities instead of focusing on our differences. That’s when we decided to get married.

During the wedding planning stage, there were a couple of times that I had to do most of the tasks alone since my husband was based in KL. But I was so grateful that the food and catering was one less stress for me because Shekinah Dishes really went out on their limbs to satisfy every little detail of my requests regarding the food and event styling.

The miscommunication I initially experienced with them actually paled in comparison to the efficiency, dedication, and quality of service I experienced in the weeks leading up to the my big day. In fact, my Malaysian Muslim in-laws were truly impressed with Filipino hospitality, feeling like VIPs when they travelled to attend our wedding in QC on May 31, 2015.

I honestly think the food tasted too good for its reasonable price. But more than that, the professionalism of Shekinah team met the standards I was expecting them to bring on my wedding.

OMG! Janella Salvador’s 18th Birthday PAWty!

LET’S PAWTY! Most people fill their birthdays with “wow”, but this one goes from “wow” to “bow-wow”.

Actress Janella Salvador, a certified pet lover, had a ball on her birthday with her “best-pawed-friends”. Dogs (like the human guests) were treated like ‘top cats’, and revel in free grooming, a daycare station, a pet photo booth, and a pet buffet! Now that’s one paw-ty both dogs and their humans sure did drool for! The pet-themed “surprise” party was sponsored by Star Studio and Chalk Magazine. It featured a small pet fashion show, which included dogs and cats.

Janella Maxine Desiderio Salvador is known for playing Sir Chief’s daughter Nikki Grace Lim in ABS-CBN’s Be Careful With My Heart and further stood out with her role as Sophie Z. Cepeda in daytime teleserye Oh My G!. She will turn 18 on March 30.

Salvador’s former leading man Marlo Mortel and actress Michelle Vito were spotted in the event, along with Janella’s mom, Jeanine Desiderio, her little brother, Russel, and other relatives. Marlo serenaded Janella with Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud”

This one-of-a-kind debut party, shows another way to celebrate life. Sharing a special day with our pets which somehow become our “paw-friends”, definitely creates something beyond ordinary. The bond between pet owners and pets would always be magical—the understanding, love and sympathy cannot just be explained by anyone.

Janella, as she hugs her cat, is smiling “purr’feclty. This is one “bow-wow” day for us. It is our joy to serve our clients as well as their four-paws besties. While celebrating her birthday, Salvador also took the opportunity to donate a humble amount to The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS).

Upon receiving the invitation to be part of Janella’s debut, Team Shekinah Dishes immediately signed up for the challenge. Together with Mago Events Stylist and Inside the Box Events and Creative Studio, we were all tasked to create this fur and fun birthday celebration. The buffet spread has nothing but the best for the debutant: Seared Fish with Capers, Chicken Supreme with Herbed Cream Sauce and Baked Meat Lasagna. Janella enjoyed these dishes, but was immensely satisfied with our Carved-on-the-Spot Roast Beef with Pepper Sauce. She also indulged herself with sweets from our dessert pastries: Cream Puff, Mini Chocolate Cupcake and Crème Brulee. Every detail of the event was skillfully and tastefully planned, prepared, and delivered.

This has been another memorable celebration shared with us. We are really delighted.

Lovers Dream: Mike + Ghiex Pagala

When we picked Fernwood Gardens as our reception from our wedding, we knew that the main problem we will be facing is choosing the caterer that has thebest “bang for the buck” deal for our given budget. After asking all the accredited caterers of their packages, we easily eliminated others with their pricing model of their packages. After we chose the final candidates, the best part was next, food tasting! I am not a food critic but my mom is a great cook, which is why I was serious on food tasting. To cut it short, Shekinah Dishes came out on top…

And the best news about the food came on the wedding day and even after it! I have no memory of it, but the guests really loved the food, the proof is we only got to take home two small microwavable container of leftovers. Another thing we were quite worried about was the arrangement/design of the reception. We did not want to hire third party stylist for the reception, because of the added extra cost. But the staff of Shekinah was very accommodating (to our wants even to the smallest detail) and very creative, too! Who needs stylists?! When you get Shekinah, it is already included in the package. We really appreciate the extra effort they put on to deliver what we like to see and they did it! The setup was awesome on our wedding day, though I didn’t recall most of it, but looking at the pictures now, it’s all there and it was beautiful! Thinking about it, what really made us choose Shekinah was their staff, they do not hard sell their services and are willing to bend some extra muscle to offer additional freebies. Thanks to Mike and especially to Maxine, who have handled our requests and wants in a positive way and for always responding promptly to our questions. Thank you and more power!
